Noth End ease past Dons

Joel Byrom and Akpo Sodje scored two goals apiece as Preston beat AFC Wimbledon 4-1 in a pre-season friendly at Kingsmeadow.

Midfielder Byrom, captaining the side on his return from injury, fired North End ahead in the 11th minute with a 12-yard drive before striker Sodje headed in a second six minutes later. The Dons reduced the deficit in the 20th minute, with Christian Jolley tucking home a rebound after keeper Jose Moreira had parried Stacy Long's free-kick. But North End restored their two-goal advantage within three minutes with Sodje pouncing at the second attempt and Byrom bagged his second when he rifled a close-range shot into the roof of the net.
