Preston midfielder Danny Mayor has hailed his winning goal against Hartlepool as the best of his career.
The 21-year-old winger came off the bench to net a superb 25-yard effort and fire North End to a smash-and-grab victory over Pools, handing boss Graham Westley his first win since succeeding Phil Brown last month. And Mayor credited Westley with giving him the license to make such a spectacular impact "The gaffer encourages us to get shots away or put crosses over when we get into the final third," he told the Lancashire Evening Post. "When I got the ball out wide and came inside it was always my intention to have a shot and it was a great feeling to see it go into the top corner. "It's definitely the best I have scored in my career, the one at Charlton earlier in the season was good but this was further out."
