Westley: Backs newbies to shine

Sky Bet

Preston boss Graham Westley has urged fans to be patient with his raft of new recruits.

Since replacing Phil Brown in the Deepdale hotseat last month, Westley has brought nine new faces to North End, including three signings before his first game in charge and a further flurry of activity either side of the transfer deadline.

The Lilywhites are without a win in three games under the former Stevenage boss, but Westley remains confident that he has the talent at his disposal to bring about a revival in fortunes.

"In the same way as I need to get things turning round and going forward again, so players are going to need time to settle and become Preston North End players," he said.

"Some of them will walk in the door and be Preston North End players just like that. Others will need that little bit of acclimatisation time.

"So let's see how it evolves and let's be patient with people, but we've got some wonderful talents that we've brought in and I know they'll be good players for the club."
