Scunthorpe have extended the loan spell of Manchester United's teenage goalkeeper Sam Johnstone until December 10.

Johnstone, 18, first arrived at Glanford Park on loan in September and has made eight appearances, but he has missed the last four games due to a dislocated finger. Manager Alan Knill told the club's official website: "We only have one fit keeper at the football club so it was never a question of not wanting him here. "The only question was over whether he was fit or not. He didn't train at all last week, they completely shut him down. "But he's back training now. Barring any problems he should be back here on Thursday and pushing for a recall for the weekend."
