Preston manager Phil Brown is backing Clarke Carlisle to play a big part in his plans to get promoted this season.
The experienced centre-back headed his first goal for the club to put Brown's team on course for a convincing 2-0 win at promoted Chesterfield.
Carlisle's authority was also important as Chesterfield tried to force their way back into the match, and Brown knows he has made a good move in signing him on a season-long loan from Burnley.
"Hopefully he'll be a big player for us," Brown said. "We brought him in for his voice, because of his organisational skills and also because he's experienced and has played at the highest level.
"Coming to Preston in League One I think is a massive bonus for us and hopefully he will continue to play like that, as he did on Saturday."
Preston were good value for their first League One win of the campaign and Brown added: "It was a good performance and I have to say I think Shez (John Sheridan) has got them playing football in the right way and we always knew it was going to be a game of football rather than blood and guts."
