Trapattoni yet to call up replacements for Uruguay clash

Giovanni Trapattoni has released several senior players from the Republic of Ireland squad for Tuesday's friendly with Uruguay. Fresh from beating Macedonia 2-1 at home in Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier, Trapattoni has rewarded some of his most experienced players with a night off against Uruguay. Captain Robbie Keane, Richard Dunne, Damien Duff and Kevin Kilbane have all been withdrawn from the squad for the game at the Aviva Stadium. Kevin Doyle will also be absent for the friendly against the World Cup semi-finalists after suffering a knee injury in the first half against Macedonia. The Wolves striker is undergoing scans on a medial ligament injury, with Trapattoni having expressed his fears that Doyle will miss the rest of the season. However, despite dispensing with the services of Doyle and Keane - after losing Leon Best to injury earlier in the week and with Jon Walters not now joining up after the birth of his son - Trapattoni is yet to call up any replacements. He has, however, put Celtic's Anthony Stokes and CSKA Sofia's Cillian Sheridan on stand-by.
