Scunthorpe United have brought in Nottingham Forest striker Joe Garner on loan until the end of the season.

Iron boss Ian Baraclough has spent much of the transfer window trying to boost his attacking options and has followed up a deal for Lee Miller by signing Garner.

Baraclough had shown an interest in Brighton's Glenn Murray and Bristol Rovers' Will Hoskins, while Kilmarnock forward Conor Sammon rejected a move to Glanford Park.

However, Garner has now agreed to join the Championship strugglers after failing to make an impression at Forest this season.

The 22-year-old spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Huddersfield Town, but failed to score in 19 appearances for the League One club.

The former Carlisle United youngster will go straight into the Scunthorpe squad for Tuesday's Championship game away to Middlesbrough.
