Bridge-Wilkinson leaves Carlisle

Carlisle midfielder Marc Bridge-Wilkinson has had his contract at the club terminated by mutual consent.

Bridge-Wilkinson, 31, has failed to force his way back into manager Greg Abbott's first-team plans since returning earlier this month from a loan spell at Darlington. Abbott said: "Marc is an absolutely fantastic lad, but wants to be playing regular football and that's not something that we could guarantee at this moment in time. "We've sat down and had a chat and have agreed it would be better for him to move on so he can get the pitch time that he needs. "He really has been a pleasure to work with and leaves us with our very best wishes." Bridge-Wilkinson joined Carlisle for his second spell in June 2007 and made over 100 appearances over the last three-and-a-half seasons. His previous clubs include Derby, Port Vale, Stockport and Bradford.
