Millwall look to compete for Carlisle for Forest striker

Millwall are looking to steal Joe Garner from under the noses of his former club Carlisle United. The Lions have identified the 21-year-old, along with Huddersfield striker Theo Robinson, as their main targets in the January transfer window. The Nottingham Forest striker, who scored 19 goals in 53 appearances for Carlisle before moving to the City Ground for £1.14million in summer 2008, has struggled for form at the high flying Championship side. In his 14 appearances in the league, 11 of them starts, this term Garner has failed to hit the back of the net although that has not stopped Carlisle manager Greg Abbott admitting his interest with Millwall now entering the fray. "These players are among several names we are looking at," Lions chief executive Andy Ambler told the News and Star. "We shall just see how things work out in the next two weeks."
