Striker makes step-up to Championship

Carlisle striker Joe Garner has joined Nottingham Forest for a fee of £1.14million. Garner has been a long-term target of the Championship new boys and Colin Calderwood has now landed his man after activating a clause in his contract. Garner, who is expected to be out for another three months with a knee ligament injury, was Carlisle's record signing last summer but is delighted to have made the step-up to English football's second tier. "I just can't wait to get out there. The stadium and the pitch look superb and everything I have seen of the Forest set-up looks top drawer," he told the club's official website. "I've known about the transfer for several weeks and was very excited about the prospect of coming here. "It's a fantastic move for me at this stage of my career and I am looking forward to getting out there and helping Forest try and get into the Premier League."
