England manager Steve McClaren has confirmed he would have 'no hesitation' in calling up David Nugent.
The Preston striker has been tipped to earn a shock call-up, as McClaren prepares to name his next squad which will face Israel and Andorra in Euro 2008 qualifiers later this month.
With question marks lingering over Darren Bent's fitness - it is being suggested that Nugent could very well be promoted from the England Under 21 squad.
"Rooney, Andy Johnson, Defoe and Darren Bent are our four strikers, obviously Darren has had an injury and we hope he comes through. We hope he plays at the weekend, we will give him every opportunity," McClaren told Sky Sports News.
"I have had a look at Nugent and I would have no hesitation, through his performances in the Under 21s, to put him in the squad.
"He's got a lot of goals in the Championship, every season he does that. Internationally you look at the Under 21s and if he can score at that level, and he has done."
