Andy Lonergan has signed a contract extension at Preston through to 2012.
The former England Under 21 goalkeeper has penned a three-and-a-half year extension as he pushes for the number one shirt at Deepdale.
Lonergan is currently back-up to Carlo Nash under Paul Simpson but the Preston boss is delighted the 23-year-old has committed to the club.
"He is a very good young goalkeeper who has still got a hell of a lot of football to play and I am just delighted that he will be playing it here," Simpson told the club's official website.
"He has shown what a quality keeper he is and is pushing Carlo Nash very close for the starting place.
"We were desperate to keep hold of him because we know how hard it is to find good quality young goalkeepers and in Andy we have definitely got that."
