Vitesse Arnhem have announced that midfielder Richard Knopper will not be signing with Preston North End.
The former Ajax man joined the Deepdale club this week for a trial with Paul Simpson's side, as the former Rochdale and Carlisle United boss looks to add more faces to his squad before Thursday's transfer deadline.
The Dutchman appeared in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Wolves on Wednesday afternoon before speaking to The Lilywhites about a switch to the Championship side.
Vitesse, however, have stated that Knopper failed to agree financial terms with Preston and has therefore moved on.
The Eredivisie club have also stated that the 29-year-old has plenty of interest from other English clubs - notably Championship rivals Stoke City.
It remains to be seen if Knopper will land a deal in England before Thursday, with the player having recently fallen out with Vitesse manager Aad de Mos.
