Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan has confirmed his intention to sign Preston North End goalkeeper Chris Neal on loan.
The 20-year-old has impressed the Boundary Park club during a pre-season trial, with Sheridan now in talks with Lilywhites counterpart Paul Simpson regarding a one-month loan deal for Neal.
Sheridan is keen to land adequate cover for number one Les Pogliacomi and has targeted the Preston number three for a temporary role with the League One outfit.
"I want to get something sorted as quickly as I can," Sheridan told Oldham's official website.
Sheridan's search for new faces has also seen him extend the trial of former Blackpool midfielder Neil Wood, while the club are thought to be running the rule over former Nantes and Belenenses striker Hassan Ahamada.
A unnamed French centre back, meanwhile, has been released after failing to impress The Latics.
