Preston North End have been ordered by a tribunal to pay £85,000 for striker Dave Hibbert.

As well as the initial fee, The Lilywhites will hand over an additional £20,000 for the former Port Vale man should they achieve promotion to The Premiership.

Port Vale will also secure a slice of Hibbert's future sale should he leave Preston and chairman Derek Shaw believes the club received a fair hearing.

"I thought the hearing was very fair and very well handled, with people who know the game inside out," Shaw told the club's official website.

"We felt we had a good case and got a good result."

Preston manager Billy Davies is delighted Hibbert's situation is resolved, leaving him free to resume his career with the Deepdale outfit.

"We are delighted it has now been resolved," said Davies.

"We can look forward to working hard with Dave and helping him progress with his career at Preston and getting him involved with the first team."
