Billy Davies has been frustrated in his attempts to solve Preston's keeper crisis.Preston North End manager Billy Davies has been frustrated in his attempts to solve the club's burgeoning keeper crisis.
After first choice Andy Lonergan was ruled out for the rest of the season with cruciate ligament damage last week, North End's problems were compounded when Gavin Ward (pictured) was sidelined for at least two weeks with a facial injury just 24 hours later.
In an attempt to bring in some much-needed cover in the shot stopping slots Davies has been canvassing clubs in the top division, and is credited with a specific interest in Arsenal youngster Stuart Taylor.
However Davies has been unable to draft in reinforcements so far, and may be forced to start with 19-year-old Chris Neal in the upcoming game against Nottingham Forest.
"Believe it or not, I've tried every Premiership club in the two or three days and we've had no joy," Davies told the club's official website.
"It's been hard work and disappointing and the other thing is that we've not got money available to spend, so it's a tricky situation and we just have to keep looking and hopefully come up with someone somewhere.
"With European football back and the stage we are at with the league campaign you can understand people not wanting to let players move.
"But as I said we've tried many, many clubs and unfortunately had no results, so all we can try and do is work on one or two doors.
"But as you can imagine there aren't too many Championship clubs willing to give us a hand and we'll just have to keep working away."
Neal made his league debut when Ward was forced off against Ipswich on Friday, and Davies will not be hesitant to throw him into the fray for any future fixtures.
"There's no point crying about it, we've just got to go and put whoever we're going to put in and let them get on with the job, it's as simple as that.
"We've just got to pick up the pieces and get on with it and it's one of those situations that can happen in football sometimes."
