Davis close to Preston deal

Preston North End are set to complete a permanent move for Jamaican international centre back Claude Davis.

The 24-year-old initially joined The Lilywhites on a season-long loan from Jamaican outfit Portmore United last summer and both clubs are now in talks over an undisclosed fee for defender.

Davis has since agreed terms on a Deepdale contract that will keep him at the Division One club until the end of 2007/08 season.

Preston will need to receive international clearance before the move can be sealed for the Caribbean star, who has been in fine form for Craig Brown's side in recent matches this season.
