MACCLESFIELD TOWN manager David Moss has admitted an interest in Sam Aiston and Martin Carruthers.

Both players are available on Bosman transfers, after their contracts with Shrewsbury Town and Scunthorpe United, respectively, expired.

Moss has now admitted that he interested in signing wide-man Aiston and forward Carruthers.

"As far as signings go, I have spoken to Sam Aiston from Shrewsbury," said Moss.

"He's a winger who is out of contract and Shrewsbury are trying to keep him.

"He wants to stay in the League and I've spoken with him with a view to bringing him to the Moss Rose.

"He's a pacey, dangerous winger who can play on the left or the right and would be a good addition to our squad.

"Another player that I am hoping to meet early next week is Martin Carruthers, a striker from Scunthorpe United also on a Bosman.

"I think he has turned down their offer of a contract so I'm hoping to meet him next week so we are in the marker for a calibre of player who had proven quality at this level.

"He is proven and had been in promotion runs before. He's the kind of player that I'm looking for.

"I've had no phone calls for any of my players which is not unusual at this time of year as it's still early days. I think that the end of June, early July there could be some other movement."

Moss also denied that Preston had made a move for Danny Whitaker.

"The rumours about Danny Whitaker going to Preston have therefore got no base unless someone knows something that I don't," he said.

"Craig Brown is an honourable man and I'm sure he would contact me if he was interested in my player."
