PRESTON NORTH END'S teenage goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has revealed he would relish the prospect of a season-long loan deal away from Deepdale.

The 19-year-old has recently returned from a brief loan stint at Blackpool after Craig Brown recalled the shot-stopper due to injuries.

Lonergan has also enjoyed a temporary spell at Darlington this term and made two appearances for The Quakers.

Though he failed to be included in Steve McMahon's starting line-up at Bloomfield Road, Lonergan admits he revelled in the experience.

He also conceded he would prefer to spend next season away from The Lilywhites if his prospects of regular action are remote.

"I can't just be sat here doing nothing next season and hopefully I can get a year out on loan and get some games," Lonergan told the club's official website.

"I had a good time (at Blackpool). When I went I knew I wouldn't get in the team straight away but Steve McMahon told me I would be playing sooner rather than later and if I had still been there now then I am sure I would have been playing."
