A Derby supporter has been arrested after running onto the pitch after Saturday's game against Nottingham Forest and making contact with a Forest player.

The incident came at the end of the Sky Bet Championship match at the iPro stadium, which Forest won 2-1.

Witnesses saw a supporter run on after the final whistle and swing at Forest defender Kelvin Wilson, before confronting a handful of other visiting players.

The fan, who ran on from a Derby section of the stadium and through a line of stewards, appeared to swing at Wilson and was then tackled to the ground by Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles.

Ben Osborn's injury-time strike gave Nottingham Forest a crucial 2-1 win over rivals Derby at the iPro Stadium on Saturday

He was surrounded by stewards and dragged away from the Forest players.

A police spokesman said: "Tension arose between both sets of supporters towards the end of the game, after Nottingham Forest had scored their second goal.

"A 23-year-old Derby supporter from the south stand entered the playing area and made contact with a Nottingham Forest player.

"The supporter has been arrested, and a joint investigation will be taking place between Derbyshire Police and Derby County."

There was also trouble off the pitch, as Forest chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi tweeted pictures of his vandalised car.

Alongside the images, showing a missing number plate and damaged wheels, he posted: "Very professional! But in the end I don't mind at all! The 3 points are more important!"
