Rotherham have signed forward Conor Sammon on loan from Derby for the remainder of the season.

The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international has already spent the majority of the campaign away from Derby, on loan at Sky Bet Championship rivals Ipswich Town.

He has made 20 appearances for the Tractor Boys this season, the last in the 1-1 draw at Southampton in the FA Cup third round on January 4, and scored one goal.

But Sammon’s deal with Ipswich has now been mutually terminated and he has decided to join another Championship club in Rotherham.

He becomes Rotherham boss Steve Evans’ fourth new arrival this month following on from Danny Ward, Adam Hammill and Jack Barmby.

Sammon was a regular starter for Derby in the 2012/13 season after moving from Wigan but he made only five starts last term with another 36 appearances off the bench.
