Derby County striker Jamie Ward has been ruled out of action for up to four weeks with a hamstring tear.
Ward, who has scored four goals in eight appearances for the Rams this season, suffered a Grade One tear in the second half of Derby's win at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
But despite Ward set for a spell on the sidelines, boss Nigel Clough is hopeful the 26-year-old can return to fitness shortly after the two-week international break later this month.
"It isn't a massive injury so in some ways that is a bonus, although Jamie will be out for a little while," said Clough.
"He has an outside chance of being available for the Blackburn Rovers game on 20th October, but we'll just have to see how he progresses during his intensive treatment."
Ward will miss this week's games against Middlesbrough and Brighton & Hove Albion as well as Northern Ireland's World Cup Qualifier away to Portugal.
