Leicester line up loan move for Potters defender

Sky Sports understands that Leicester are lining up a loan approach for Stoke defender Ryan Shotton. The versatile 23-year-old, who can also operate in midfield, started Tuesday's Capital One Cup defeat to Swindon, but is not considered to be a first-team regular. He is a useful member of the squad, as he provides cover at right-back and in the middle of the park, but Tony Pulis is aware of his desire to get games. Shotton has previously taken in loan spells at Altrincham, Tranmere and Barnsley. A productive 2011/12 campaign saw him make 23 Premier League appearances and sign a new four-year contract with the Potters. He could, however, soon be turning out in the Championship, with Leicester keen to add him to their ranks after making a disappointing start to a season in which they have been tipped to challenge for promotion.
