Northampton midfielder Michael Jacobs has moved a step closer to leaving the club after rejecting a new contract offer.
The Cobblers claim to have turned down bids for Jacobs from Barclays Premier League and Championship clubs, but now seem resigned to losing their prized asset.
The 20-year-old, out of contract this summer, was an ever-present for Town last season, scoring six times as Aidy Bothroyd's men secured their Football League status.
A statement on Northampton's official website read: "Michael Jacobs has officially rejected a substantially improved new contract offer to stay at Northampton Town and seems set to leave Sixfields.
"The Northamptonshire-born prospect has already attracted considerable interest from teams in both the Premier League and the Championship, with the Cobblers already rejecting a number of offers for his services."
