Sky Sports understands that Scotland could be ready to make a shock move for Stephen Warnock.
The Aston Villa defender, who can also play in midfield, is a full England international.
However, Warnock's two caps have both come in friendlies against Trinidad & Tobago and France.
And, despite being included in England's World Cup squad in 2010, he did not play, meaning he has never featured for the Three Lions in a competitive game.
That means, in theory, Warnock could switch his international allegiance.
Scotland boss Craig Levein is desperate to bolster his player pool and is understood to be considering a call-up for Warnock after it emerged he could be eligible.
The one issue for Levein could be persuading the 30-year-old former Liverpool and Blackburn man to switch allegiance.
