Aidy warns clubs off Jacobs

Northampton manager Aidy Boothroyd insists only a huge offer would persuade the club to sell midfield maestro Michael Jacobs.

Jacobs, whose current contract expires in the summer, is reportedly being monitored by a host of League One and Championship clubs. Boothroyd hopes the 20-year-old remains at Sixfields beyond the end of this season. 'Unless it's an enormous offer, he'll stay where he is,' Boothroyd told BBC Radio Northampton. 'If he's going to go, he'll go in the summer. I'd rather he stayed, and he doesn't want to leave, we don't want to sell and no-one's coming in for him. 'I spoke to Michael about it, had a chat with the chairman, and we feel the best place for him - and for our club - is with us right now.' Jacobs has scored five goals this campaign, adding to his tally of eight last season. Due to his age, any move away would still result in Northampton receiving a transfer fee set by a tribunal.
