Burnley keeper Lee Grant insists that he is more than happy to stay at Turf Moor, despite a frustrating first season at the club.
The former Derby and Sheffield Wednesday stopper managed just 25 league starts for the Clarets and lost his place to Brian Jensen towards the end of the campaign.
The 28-year-old was linked with several Championship and Premier League clubs this summer, but claims he is determined to establish himself as Burnley's number one next season.
"For me, it was a difficult end to the season having finished it by warming the bench and when you are 28-years-old and used to playing regularly it isn't the nicest feeling in the world," Grant told skysports.com.
"It felt like the right time to have a chat with the manager and see how I fit into his plans and I'm certainly one that wants to battle it out here and prove that I'm the number one at this club.
"I've got two more years to do that and as long as I'm here that will be my goal.
"In terms of interest I wasn't aware of anything this summer, but my mind was fully focused on coming back to Burnley again and making sure that I'm number one at the start of the season."
Practice
The Clarets face League One newcomers Bury at Gigg Lane on Wednesday in their second pre-season fixture, after a resounding 4-2 win over Altrincham at the weekend, and Grant knows that it will be a tough test for them.
"It is always pleasing to be getting some match practice in quickly and with another friendly up at Bury tonight the games are coming thick and fast," he said.
"It should be another good test for us and everyone is working hard to get their fitness levels up so that we are ready to go for the start of the season.
"They will be a good side and we know from just being down the road from them how well things went for them last season.
"It will be a tough test and the main thing is the attitude and fitness side of things at this stage of the season, but also gaining a winning mentality can boost confidence levels into the season."
