Skysports.com understands Derby have won the race to sign Barnsley defender Jason Shackell.
Shackell has been one of Derby boss Nigel Clough's top targets all summer and it appears he has finally landed his man.
Derby are believed to have fended off interest from Championship rivals Portsmouth and Burnley to land the 27-year-old.
Shackell is believed to be set to sign a three-year deal at Pride Park.
Shackell was named Barnsley's player of the season last term, but they have been able to persuade him to stay at Oakwell.
Shackell will become Derby's sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Nathan Tyson, Frank Fielding, Jamie Ward, Theo Robinson and Craig Bryson.
