Conor Sammon plans to draw on past experiences as he attempts to steer Wigan to Premier League safety.
The Irish striker is yet to break his scoring duck for the Latics, having completed a move to the DW Stadium during the January transfer window.
He is, however, confident the goals will come and believes his experience of past relegation dogfights could be useful in Wigan's battle to avoid the drop.
Sammon was part of a Kilmarnock side that preserved their place in the SPL on the final day of the 2009/10 campaign and hopes he will be given the opportunity to enjoy similar survival joy this year.
"Blackpool will be one of the biggest games I've played in," he told the
Wigan Evening Post ahead of a crunch clash with the Seasiders on Saturday.
"When I was at Kilmarnock we were in a relegation fight which went down to the last game of the season against Falkirk who were two points behind us.
Pressure
"They came to us on the last day of the season and had they won, we would have been the ones relegated so I've played in pressure games like that and I'm relishing the opportunity at being involved in the next couple of games.
"I'm looking to fight for the good of the team for our survival in the Premier League.
"I personally believe we can stay up and that is the feeling throughout the squad."
Sammon also has a feeling that a trip to Bloomfield Road this weekend will see him get off the mark for the Latics and allow him to start repaying the faith shown in him by boss Roberto Martinez.
"We're constantly looking to create chances and score goals and what better place to score your first than in a massive game like that against Blackpool," he smiled.
"If it happens on Saturday, I'll be absolutely buzzing but overall the main thing is helping the team and help us retrieve the right result."
