Rovers swoop for loan duo

Tranmere have completed the loan signings of Coventry defender Jermaine Grandison and Derby midfielder Arnaud Mendy.

Centre-back Grandison, 19, progressed through Coventry's youth system before making his first team debut in April 2009. Mendy, also 19, signed for Derby from French side Rouen in 2008 before making his first-team debut last October. He spent time on loan at Grimsby last season and both players have signed one-month loan deals, making them available for Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at home to Accrington. Rovers boss Les Parry said: "I'm pleased to be able to bring in players of Jermaine and Arnaud's quality. "Injuries to Nick Wood, Paul McLaren and Joss Labadie leave us a little short at the moment, so Jermaine and Arnaud will fill those gaps with a bit of quality. I'd like to thank Coventry manager Aidy Boothroyd and Derby manager Nigel Clough for allowing their players to come to us on loan."
