Preston midfielder Paul Coutts will undergo surgery on Monday in a bid to get him fully fit for next season.

Coutts out for rest of the season

Preston have confirmed that Paul Coutts will miss the remainder of the season as he need surgery. The Scottish midfielder will go under the knife on Monday, as he looks to cure persistent groin and hip injuries. Coutts will need three-months recovery time, but he will be back for pre-season training. "Paul is having an operation. He's got a real problem with his groin and a problem with his hip too," North End boss Darren Ferguson told the Lancashire Evening Post. "He will be out for a good three months, hopefully getting it done now will mean he is okay for pre-season training. "Paul has been carrying the injury for a little while but credit to him, he's dug in and played. I have to say that for the last three or four games he has not performed as well as he could. Maybe that is me being over-critical because I know how good the lad can be. "He went to see the specialist last week who couldn't do the operation until Monday. Playing him one last time on Saturday wasn't going to do any more harm."
