Rovers boss disappointed by Derby dealings

Ronnie Moore has expressed his disappointment at the nature of Steve Davies' departure from Tranmere. The highly-rated winger is out of contract at Prenton Park, and despite Rovers' best attempts to persuade him to stay he is destined for the exit. He has agreed a three-year deal with Championship side Derby, but the move has been delayed by the Rams' failure to agree a fee with his current employers. As the midfielder is only 20-years-old Rovers are entitled to compensation, with a valuation now set to be imposed at a tribunal.

Offers

Moore is confident that the club will be suitably subsidised for their loss, but is frustrated by the manner in which the situation has arisen. "We made him some great offers, but there is only so much we can do to try to keep a player at the club, and ultimately the decision was his," he said. "We are disappointed about the way this has been handled by the player and Derby but no doubt this will come out in the tribunal. "Given other clubs' independent valuations of the player we are confident this will be reflected in the tribunal decision."
