Out-of-favour Derby midfielder Benny Feilhaber has ruled out a return to Major League Soccer.

American may be set for move to Maccabi

Out-of-favour Derby midfielder Benny Feilhaber has ruled out a return to Major League Soccer. Having been brought to Pride Park by previous boss Billy Davies, the Scot's successor Paul Jewell has made it clear that the American does not figure in his plans and he is free to move on. Feilhaber was believed to have discussed a potential move to Maccabi Tel Aviv last week but the Israeli side are yet to meet Derby's valuation of a player they paid £1million for less than five months ago. The Brazilian-born midfielder's agent Henner Janzen remains confident that an agreement with Maccabi could be reached in the near future but has moved quickly to dismiss any talk that the player may be set to make a move to the States.

Preferred choice

"The deal with Maccabi isn't completely out of the picture yet," he told Yanks Abroad. "Benny isn't really interested in a move back to the MLS right now though. He would prefer to stay in Europe."
