Robert Earnshaw is determined to make an impact for Wales if he gets the nod to play against Cyprus.
Earnshaw has had limited opportunities for Derby since joining the club over the summer, and has yet to score in the Premier League this season.
But West Ham forward Craig Bellamy is doubtul for Wales' forthcoming Euro 2008 Group D qualifiers following groin surgery.
Earnshaw could now be in line to start in Cyprus on Saturday, with John Toshack's men then travelling to San Marino on Wednesday.
"I'll just try and play well and if I get chances I'll try and put the ball in the back of the net," he told Sky Sports News.
"Apart from that I'll be smiling and enjoying myself, and hopefully everything will go well."
Toshack staying positive
Toshack has admitted he is concerned about his options up front for the double-header, with neither Freddy Eastwood or Jermaine Easter playing regularly for their clubs.
He said: "Their match fitness is maybe not what it should be, particularly in Earnie's case.
"I think it's been almost nine months since he last played a full 90 minutes and it's not easy to come straight in and perform after that scenario.
"Our last two performances away from home, against Bulgaria and Slovakia, have made us feel we can go to these places and think about winning, even allowing for the absentees that we have."
