Paul Peschisolido is keen to be given the opportunity to earn a contract extension at Derby County.
The Rams striker's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and no offer is currently on the table.
Peschisolido has made 15 appearances for Derby this term, but with Steve Howard suspended, hopes to stake a claim in the next two games.
And the 35-year-old Canadian international is confident he can still do a job for Billy Davies' side next season.
"Until the season finishes, I am a Derby player and I have not given up hope of staying beyond that," Peschisolido said.
"Nothing is written in stone and if I get an opportunity and score a few goals a few minds could be changed.
"I want to stay here and I still feel I can make an impact this season and next season - I just hope I get the chance to prove that."
