SMITH SLAMS SAVAGE`S STYLE

DERBY COUNTY boss Jim Smith has accused Leicester City ace Robbie Savage of `making a meal` of a confrontation with Deon Burton that resulted in The Rams` striker being dismissed.

The pair had clashed throughout the game and Burton appeared to aim a headbutt at Savage, prompting referee Mike Halsey to brandish the red card.

Smith expressed his disappointment at Savage`s conduct throughout the whole game, but admitted that Burton will be punished if he finds that he did assault the Welsh international.

"Deon has been sent off for butting," Smith declared. "I didn't see that, I only saw a certain Leicester player making a meal of it.

"I couldn't tell whether there was actual contact.  If there was then Deon will be severely dealt with. If there hasn't then there will be the chance of a reprieve.

"Mind you, there looked like contact by Savage on Eranio in another incident. I'm disappointed Savage plays the game like that. He's a good enough player not to go around doing what he does."
