O'Neill casts eye over free agent in training
Sky Sports understands Sunderland are weighing up a move for former Everton man James McFadden.
McFadden, who is available on a free transfer, has linked up with the Black Cats for training this week.
The Scotland international is hoping to fix himself up with a new club after leaving Everton at the end of last season.
A number of teams have expressed an interest, with the 29-year-old holding out for a move to a Premier League side.
Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill will cast an eye over McFadden in training as he considers offering the attacker a short-term deal at the Stadium of Light.
