Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has confirmed that former boss Ricky Sbragia has departed the club.
Sbragia had a spell in charge of the Black Cats in the 2008/09 season, where he took the reins following the departure of Roy Keane in December, guiding the club to safety.
The 54-year-old was then moved to the position of chief scout after the appointment of Steve Bruce in the summer of 2009.
Quinn, however, confirmed that after three and a half years at the Stadium of Light, Sbragia had departed, and paid a tribute to the Scot.
The chairman told the club's official website: "Ricky has been a tremendous servant to our club - firstly in a coaching capacity, then of course taking the helm after the departure of Roy Keane and latterly as chief scout.
"Ricky is a true footballing man and we will always be grateful to him for everything he has done for the club. We wish him all the best for the future."
