Colchester United manager Aidy Boothroyd has confirmed Roy O'Donovan is on his list of potential summer transfer targets.
O'Donovan is currently on loan at Hartlepool United from Sunderland and is out of contract with the Premier League club at the end of the season.
He has scored nine goals in 14 appearances for Pools and netted twice in last month's 3-1 home win over Colchester.
Pools are keen to sign the Irishman permanently, but could face competition from Colchester and Southampton, who have also been linked with an offer.
"Roy O'Donovan is a player I like," admitted Boothroyd.
"I thought he did very well against us, but he's just one of many I'm looking at."
