Black Cats defender to return to Roots Hall when fit again

Southend United have agreed a deal to bring Sunderland defender Jean-Yves Mvoto back to Roots Hall in January. Mvoto's initial loan spell with Southend has been curtailed by injury and he has not featured since September due to a hip problem. He recently underwent an operation and has returned to Sunderland to complete his rehabilitation towards full fitness. Once back in peak condition, Mvoto will rejoin the Shrimpers, with manager Steve Tilson confirming a deal is in place for the centre-back to stay with the League One club for the rest of the season. "We've agreed in principle for Jean-Yves to come back when he is fully fit," Tilson told the club's official website. "We didn't get to see much of him during his first six months here, but when we did he was a dominating character. "Subject to him getting back to full fitness we will be loaning him until the end of the season at some point in January."
