Teemu Tainio looks set to be at Sunderland manager Roy Keane's disposal for the weekend clash against Wigan Athletic after overcoming a hamstring injury.
Finland midfielder Tainio has missed the club's last three games with the problem, but is poised to make his return at the JJB Stadium on Saturday.
Tainio, 28, joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur over the summer, and is hopeful he can now get a consistent run in the side after his recent setback.
He told the Sunderland Echo: "It was a strange injury for me because it was not really painful, the thigh just felt a little tight.
"Hopefully I won't miss any more games through injury."
