Sunderland star Kenwyne Jones is hoping their weekend victory over Portsmouth will inspire them to Premier League survival.
Jones helped The Black Cats to a comfortable 2-0 win against Pompey and although they remain in the bottom three, hope is high on Wearside they can beat the drop.
The win means Sunderland are just two points off Reading in 13th position.
"We showed our hunger and our desire to beat Portsmouth and we must keep doing that for the rest of the season," said Jones.
"We might still be in the bottom three but the gap has been closed and the situation is looking healthier."
