Sunderland boss Roy Keane has revealed Rory Delap is holding talks with Championship rivals Stoke City.
The former Southampton and Derby County midfielder has not featured in the club's last four league games following their 2-1 away win at Pride Park.
Keane has confirmed Delap travelled to Stoke last week and now it is up to The Potters and the 30-year-old whether a deal will be struck.
"Rory went to see Stoke last week and he's been speaking to them over the last few days," explained Keane to the club's official website.
"I think that could happen but it's really down to Rory and Stoke.
"When you think something is nearly done it can quickly change, so I'm a bit wary of saying too much at the moment."
Delap could be the second signing by the club during the international break following the loan capture of Liverpool's Salif Diao.
