Sunderland defender Kenny Cunningham faces a spell on the sidelines.
Cunningham picked up a hamstring injury during Sunderland's win over Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
Cunningham is expected to be out of action for up to three weeks.
Sunderland boss Roy Keane confirmed the injury to Cunningham and revealed the club will have a look at the problem when they return from their training camp.
"Kenny has a hamstring strain and is working with the physios out here.
"We'll be back on Thursday and see how it is then."
Meanwhile, out-of-favour Sunderland defender Rory Delap has been linked with a move to Stoke.
Delap has dropped down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light and is thought to be considering his options.
Stoke are keen to bolster their squad and are pondering the possibility of bringing Delap to the Britannia Stadium.
