Sunderland goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has penned a new contract that will see him remain at The Stadium of Light until 2010.
The 19-year-old has begun the new Championship season as the club's number one following Kelvin Davis' move to Southampton.
Alnwick had been linked with a move away from the club after asking for a transfer earlier in the summer, but withdrew the request last month following Niall Quinn's arrival.
Quinn has since put his faith in the highly-rated keeper, to the delight of Alnwick who has now signed a new four-year deal to remain with The Black Cats.
Alnwick becomes the fifth first-team member to ink contract extensions during the summer, with Grant Leadbitter, Dean Whitehead, Liam Lawrence and Daryl Murphy also committing to the club.
