Tommy Miller admits Sunderland have been buoyed by their three-match unbeaten run.

The Black Cats suffered a miserable return to The Premiership when they lost their opening five games of the season.

A home draw with West Bromwich Albion bucked the trend before Sunderland gained their first win at Middlesbrough.

Miller scored the opening goal in that 2-0 success and he was also on target in the 1-1 draw at home to fellow promoted side West Ham United at the weekend.

The midfielder admits there was a sense of disappointment at dropping further points at home but believes Mick McCarthy's men can take heart from their recent form.

"There are plenty of positives but we have dropped two points in each of the last two home games and have to stop that," said Miller.

"But it's good to have a little unbeaten run going and it helps to keep the confidence up."
