Sunderland striker Stephen Elliott has promised the club's fans there is more to come from him.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has impressed recently in the absence of the injured Kevin Kyle, bringing his goals tally to five with a double strike in the weekend win over Preston.

Elliott is enjoying life at The Stadium of Light and is confident he can help the side make a serious bid for promotion.

"I feel that I can do better than I have been doing," said Elliott.

"There is still more to come from me and I think that, with a run of games, I can become a better player and score more goals.

"I'm getting used to playing first-team football and I'm enjoying my football a lot more.

"I'm looking for ways to improve whenever I go out to train or when I step onto the pitch, I'm always looking for things I can do to make me a better player."
