Doncaster Rovers have received a major boost by the news that their proposal to build a new stadium has been approved.

Donny chairman John Ryan was notified of the news in South Africa and was said to be jubilant, according the club's official website.

Doncaster mayor Martin Winter made the announcement on Wednesday, thus allowing the Third Division club to plan a move away from their traditional Belle Vue ground, which is located next to the town's famous racecourse.

Meanwhile, Donny have extended the loan of striker Chris Brown by a further month from Division One side Sunderland.

The 18-year-old has impressed since joining the South Yorkshire club last month and his current deal will see him stay until the end of November.

With Dave Penney's side, Brown has scored four goals in five appearances with Doncaster, having not yet made a single first team appearance with The Black Cats.

"Chris is doing well there and it gives him a chance to get some valuable League experience," McCarthy told Sunderland's official website.
