Doncaster Rovers have signed teenage striker Chris Brown on a month's loan from Division One club Sunderland.

The 18-year-old recently recovered from a serious knee ligament injury and could make his debut with his new club versus Bristol Rovers at Belle Vue on Saturday.

Brown has impressed in the Black Cats' reserves this season and is held in high regard by manager Mick McCarthy, who will hope his loan move to Donny will earn the youngster some much-needed league action.

"Chris is a promising player and it will do him good to get some league football under his belt," McCarthy told Sunderland's official website.

The Doncaster-born Brown looks to be following in the footsteps of his father Alan, who played for both clubs during his time in the game.

Meanwhile, Donny boss Dave Penney has agreed to put Jamie Paterson on the transfer list at the player's request - due to a lack of first team opportunities with the South Yorkshire outfit.
