JOHN OSTER has been told by Sunderland boss Peter Reid that he can leave the Stadium Of Light after turning down a new deal.

The 22-year-old winger, who still has one-year to run on his current contract, has turned down a new deal at the Wearside club and has been told he can leave to find a new team.

The former Everton ace has struggled to establish himself at the North East club since his move from Goodison Park two years ago.

Reid admitted that the Welsh international had been left out of the club's pre-season preparations so that he could sort his future out.

"We offered John a new deal and he did not want to sign it so I've told him that he can leave if he gets fixed up," said Reid.

"There's been no fall out, it's just one of those things in football.

"I've left him out of our current tour because I know what he can do. This is a chance for me to have a look at other players."
